BC Concussion Awareness Week is September 27 to October 3
Each year, there are an average of 1,500 visits to BC Children’s Hospital emergency department for concussions. It is also estimated that 1 in 70 Canadian adults suffer a concussion each year. This is considered an underestimate of the true burden of concussion.
September 27 to October 3 is BC Concussion Awareness Week. This annual campaign aims to raise awareness among British Columbians about how to recognize a potential concussion, manage symptoms through a gradual return to activity, and avoid long-term consequences.
The BCIRPU has created a campaign toolkit with concussion statistics, images, and social media posts to help you spread awareness of proper concussion recognition, diagnosis, and management.
Browse the CATT website to take eLearning courses, access downloadable resources, and learn about the latest in concussion education.
