Bill to support people with brain injuries introduced in legislature
On April 14, a bill was introduced in the BC Legislature aimed at providing support for people with brain injuries.
The Brain Injury Support Act will add brain injury to the BC Mental Health Act so that people living with significant brain injury can be recognized under the Mental Health Act for treatment purposes.
The bill is a collaboration between BrainTrust Canada and MLA for Kelowna-Mission Gavin Dew.
“By recognizing significant brain injuries within the framework of the Mental Health Act, people suffering from them will be able to receive the care and support they need,” said Dew in a news article.
