In April, the United Kingdom (UK) government and the Sport and Recreation Alliance released new UK Concussion Guidelines for Non-Elite (Grassroots) Sport.

Developed by expert clinicians and academics, the guidelines lay out the necessary steps to recognize the signs of concussion, immediately remove a player with a suspected concussion from play, and safely return to sport, daily activity, and education and/or work.

The guidelines specify that no one should return to sport within 24 hours of a suspected concussion. As the tagline puts it: “If in doubt, sit them out.”
