Concussion baseline testing is no longer required or recommended for post-injury care of youth athletes with suspected or diagnosed concussion, according to a statement from Parachute Canada in August 2017. Baseline testing could provide a sense of security that is not warranted, and is not recommended.

These recommendations are based on up-to-date research and in consultation with Parachute’s Expert Advisory Concussion Subcommittee, of which BCIRPU Associate Director Dr. Shelina Babul is a member.
